YMI endeavours to provide a framework for young people in the music industry to perform, record, publish and broadcast. The idea is not to “simulate” the real world but simply to be real world.

Run by the youth for the youth, YMI is facilitated within the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries (http://qaci.eq.edu.au/).

The Organizations Objectives are:

• To give young songwriters an avenue to record and publish their work, with professional, industry standard facilities and equipment.
• To provide access to industry professionals such as sound engineers, producers and songwriters.
• To facilitate mentoring, education and the beginning of the crucial element – exposure and networking.
• To allow young songwriters from within our academy, our cluster feeder schools (both secondary and primary) and secondary students across QLD to record EP’s and full length albums.
